Did Obama just say what I thought he said?

Glad the president was finally blunt about the Bush Tax Cuts. To bad he wasn't blunt about raising taxes. Sneaky sneaky Mr. Obama. Start watching at 30:00.

My chemistry teacher used to carry a water bottle and she shot people in the face if they feel asleep in her class. I think Obama needs on for Biden.

Diamond District: Music out of the DMV thats not Wale or Go-Go

I discovered Diamond District recently. They hail from the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) so its my obligation as a resident to publicize them. They are a little different from the DMV "prodigal son" named Wale, so its refreshing to discover something new from this area (Not knocking Wale, he's a favorite here on 5ivebruhs ). Wale is heavily influenced by Go-Go music, and his lyrics tend to be autobiographical. He utilizes allot pop culture references for his metaphors and samples. These guys are more influenced by Jazz Hip-hop, and alternative hip-hop coming out of new york in the 90s.  They are similar to Mobb Deep in that sense; street chroniclers with dark beats and grainy sound bites.  Check them out below:

Tyler the Creator: He might stab us with a pitchfork for posting a blog about him but....

Tyler the Creator harkens back on a earlier time in hip hop. A time when we were all just a little bit afraid of  our MCs. It's refreshing to have a little weird in our hip hop again, a little downright disturbing if you will. It shakes the factory hip hop up, puts us on our toes, and pisses allot of people off. And that ultimately is the point, right? To piss people off. Well at 19, this MC is not going anywhere anytime soon. So sit back and great ready for the weird. Mr. Creator, Don't Fight The Feeling.

Dynamite, Dynamite!!

Just bought the Black Dynamite graphic novel. A one time deal. oh you don't know what Black Dynamite is?? Its the greatest parody film of ALL TIME. Paying homage to classic bloxploitation films in expert fashion. The quotables, characters (that have names like Cream Corn, Chocolate Giddyup, and Captain Kangaroo Pimp), and of course the main character Black Dynamite are unforgettable. They even include an origin story of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. One of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. My neighbors (bunch of film majors) put me on to it and one of them said "Dude this is gonna be your new favorite movie." They were right. Iv'e been trying to get my friends on the bandwagon ever since. This film did't do well in the box office when it came out in 2009 but has gained a cult following and has now landed a cartoon series on Adult Swim. Here's the trailer from the movie.
